AHHHHH! The clock has wound down on my PC and I do not know how to wind it again.

Help, the clock has wound down on this PC. What used to be a screamer last week, has become a 486 over night.

AS IT WAS LAST WEEK: Boot up times less than a minute to full usability. No delay in processing programs or internet.

AS IT IS THIS WEEK: Everything seems like it is in slow motion. Boot up takes almost ten minutes. Some programs such as internet work fine once the window opens which takes forever. Other programs like Media Player work the first time it is used, then become unresponsive.

Resolution attempts to date:

Tried restoring to a previous date, after locking up for over 30 minutes at the status bar, gets error message "restore point invalid, attempt another restore point" or something like that. Have attempted a few different dates, all same result.

Try booting from system disks....still same minutes long responses.

Numerous reboots, sometimes restarts very slowly, sometimes locks up totally requiring power reboot with power switch.

Checked system: HArd drive, RAM and processor report good.

Computer clock has not lost time........HELP PLEASE!
