Hi there,
Please please can somebody help me out. My laptop crashed last night so i had to turn it off without shutting down properly. I had quite a few programs running. Anyway since then it did restart windows but would not load my desk top. So i turned it off again and now it won't even do that, the laptop screen is blank even though the system appears to be working i.e. its making all the right noises and lights are flashing.
The laptop is a Hi Grade Notino 4400 it is about 3.5 years old and has been operating much slower recently.
I would be so grateful for any help or advice...have i lost all my work saved on the hard drive? How do I recover it? Also I am scared to turn off the computer again in case i do more damage, so should i leave it running with the blank screen?
Thanks for your help
Maria
Do you see anything at all on the screen when you first power on?
This is the recovery process from Higrade:
http://www.higrade.com/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=813Hard drive based Recovery -You will see a message appear during boot up asking you to press F10 to enter the Recovery Menu.In this menu, you have an option to Recovery your system back to the Factory preinstalled configuration.
All the necessary files required to "Recover" your system are stored in a dedicated partition on the hard drive.
This is the preferred method adopted by Higrade Computers.
Are you using the battery or A/C adapter?
In a worse case scenario you can extract that drive onto a desktop computer to extract your data.
