    Stuck in Standby / Hibernate?

I had my PC on yesterday morning. About 12 midday I went away from the PC meaning to go back to it soon. However, it was 8pm by the time I returned and the PC won't work. I assume it's some kind of Standby issue.

There is a green light on on the CPU which normally means the PC is on. However, there are no lights on on the keyboard. The monitor is saying 'No video input'

I have tried holding the on/off switch down, hitting the keys randomly!, pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE, unplugging from the mains etc!

    Please help!

The only other light on the front of the CPU which would normally flash green when PC is processing does not come on at all. There was no fan noise or any noise at all.

Now the NUM LOCK light on the keyboard flashes occasionally. I left it all unplugged overnight and came back to it this morning. The main light is still on meaning the computer is on and won't switch off. Help!

It's an eMachines 420, standard issue from PC World.

    What is a CMOS battery?

    How old is your PC?

the CMOS battery is a little button cell that helps the PC store information such as the system time and system settings for your computer

Computer is just over 2 years old. Is used on average for 3 or 4 hours a day.
