    smiley central

Earlier this week... I downloaded smiley central. This was a big mistake since it is almost impossible to download. I followed instructions that I found on the following websites:
    http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner...ug/index.phtml
    and
    http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...-fun-is-it.htm

and even downloaded a couple of free antivirus programs.... for example:
    http://www.spywareremove.com/removeMyWebSearch.html
    and http://www.uninstall-i-lookup.com/re...chtoolbar.html

and... well, now the world of Regedit has been opened up to me... so what I deleted from regedit, besides all the content individually and all the folders that had anything to do with smiley central, were a few icons and a few words like "king's" and "quest" that had to do with another program that I thought was completely gone, and also anything that had to do with games... I know that this is dangerous.... but, now for my questions:

    1. How can I know for sure that I have not deleted anything important?

    2. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT - CLSID/CLSID ... . I have all kinds of folders listed, such as {0000002F-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} or {00000100-0000-0010-8000-00AA006D2EA4} Each of these contains one or two subfolders that say InprocServer32 and ProgID.... I do not know whether smiley central has installed these on my computer, or whether they belong on the computer, or what would happen if I delete them all.

    3. On a completely different note, when I went on www.d.co.il for the first time, it told me that it could not be displayed without downloading a sprachpacket (language packet). I thought, OK, I will download it and delete it later. But now I cannot find anything on my computer called a sprachpacket. Where should I look for it?

    Thanks.
    Janelle

    1. If you have any new problem with programs or XP running this would indicate that perhaps you deleted something important.

    2. There is no easy way to trace all those CLSID's. It is best to use a registry cleaner when cleaning the registry. This is a good free one: RegSeeker

    3. Go to start > Search and type in sprachpacket or any identifier you remember it using. Most installations will show you where they are going as you install them. They usually ask for your confirmation. Most likely this packet was just put in the background somewhere if it is not an actual program.

As to your overall post you might want to run a HijackThis log by our Pros over in that section.

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
    (Not in this section please).

Please specify what issues you appear to be experiencing along with your log.
