Hi all, I was thinking of selling my desktop and buying a high - end laptop. Before I do though I want to find out about wireless internet in the home. I want to set up a network that is not really a network.
Could I for example have access to the internet anywhere in my house for my laptop? (My laptop will be the only computer in the house so I will not be able to share the connection). Long story short I want to know if it is possible to connect one computer directly to the internet wirelessly or if I have to go near a telephone socket and plug into a modem or share through another computer which is already connected.

Oh and since I am on the topic, can anyone recommend a high-end laptop for around 800 pounds?

you can have a wireless router connected to the phone, then use the internet anywhere in the house.
