Systen Restore not working
I have had a computer crash today, I tried a system Restore the calander was on March and would not let me either click on any of the highlighted dates on March nore would it allow me to change the moths to see if any 'older' System Restores were working. No luck, could not change back too January or February.
As it stands at the mement it is of little use or value. Has anyone any ides or suggestions to get the System restore working again or some alternitive program I could use to replace System restore.

Right click My Computer then click Properties then open the System Restore tab.
Turn it off. This will clear all points. Turn it back on. This should reset it for future points.

What about the crash? What happened? Are things OK now?

Hi jephree - Sorry for not replying sooner. I went to my fleapit in the early hours of this morning. To cut a long story short, I was having problems after upgrading [from XP home SP1] & installing windows XP Home SP2.
My computer would not power down and I was unable to install my Office 2000 professional program [error 1919, ODBC data source:MS access data base not found]
In my infinite wisdom???? I thought I would run the recovery CD that was supplied with my computer to try and recover the elusive ODBC files/drivers.
This I did and when the program finished and rebooted I no longer had PS2 - it had reverted to SP1 - then crashed. I restarted my computer [F8]in last known configuration that worked, when it opened I went to system restore because I knew I has a restore date from last week - restore would not work as described above. I have managed to install all my files from an external drive and also managed to install office 2000. I have switched off System restore and am now ready to turn off the computer [ I will let you know if problem is still evident and if computer power downs. Thanks for your help.

Power down still not working - I need the off/on switch to turn my computer off. It stops responding after 'saving your settings' at the 'preparing to shut down'

That shutdown failure was a known issue pre SP1 as seen here:

If you do not want to try SP2 again perhaps take all the SP1 updates.
Also perhaps turn off the Welcome Screen as mentioned in that link.
