Help plz!

The thing is......there used to be two accounts on my computer, and recently both have been taken off and there is now only one.
When there were two accounts i made a folder with some pictures in a private folder, now there is only one account and it wont let me get into the folder.
So i tried to search for the contents of the folder and i found the images and folders within, the only trouble is when i try and open the pictures it says "Can't determine type" and no image appears.
Also when i try and look at the images as thumbnails it doesn't show the pictures.

Any help would be appreciated

What do you mean by Private Folder? Did you use Encryption?

Is "Can't determine type" the full exact error message?

no i didn't use encryption...i right clicked on properties on the folder and clicked on sharing at the top of the window, i then clicked on the box make this folder private.
Can't determine type is the exact words when i try and open the pictures.

nope...on the web link it says the box is ticked but just greyed out, but the box on mine isn't ticked and still greyed out.
