I have compaq labpop with windows Xp. When I try to bring it up, I goes to a black screen apologizing for not booting up properly. It ask things such as " do want to start in safe mode", "start windows as usual etc." I've tried in safe mode and the usual start up. It'll will take about 30 seconds and begin to boot. The Windows Xp screen will appear, and then it will return the black sreen.

What is the exact Compaq model?

Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware and or software?

Did you try the option to Start Last Known Good Configuration?

I did use last known good configuration. I did install an upgrade. The series number on the laptop is cm2130. The model number maybe EVOn115.

All I can think of is to reinstall XP:
