    Graphics help

    Hiya all

I've been having problems with my picture and video quality where the images are all blurry and have started getting black splotches on my images and when i play movies the blacks have greens and blues in the dark scenes. The problem started around the time I installed Azureus, a .torrent downloader, and began uploading a 5GB -or so- file. Since then my screen has been getting progressively worse to the splotchy and blurry quality i see now.

I'm using a laptop - Acer Aspire 3000 - and Ive connected it with another monitor, but the image quality continues onto the other monitor. I have recovery CD's, tho I dont no whether to use them incase it makes things worse instead of better.

    Thanks in advance!

I would suggest reloading your graphics driver:

    http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/for...d=3394#results

SIS Graphic Driver v6.14.10.3654 Aspire 3000 Windows XP

    http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/for...ords=&areaid=7

Startup in Safe Mode and remove your current driver then load the downloaded version.

How am i meant to uninstall the driver? I went into safe mode then uninstalled using Add/Remove programs. When i went to install new driver errors came up... so i system restored to fix it...

What were the exact error messages?

    Did i do something wrong?

Nothing wrong. First off this would just be the first thing I would try. Since the problem happens on multiple monitors I would first suspect your graphics card drivers.

It is strange that you cannot update them.

Any chance of a system restore to before Azureus?

Also view your Error Log via:
    [1] Start Menu
    [2] Help and Support
    [3] Pick a Task
    [4] Tools
    [5] Advanced System Information
    [6] View the Error Log

By the way how is the monitor in Safe Mode? Any problems there?

Okie i did the process again and got the error messages:

    InitWDMInfo failed

    Error loading
    SiSInst.dll
The specific module could not be found

    InstFunc.dll
    UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices: Error

It asked me to restart my computer, when i did i went to the setup again and it showed the InitWDMInfo failed message four or five times before it completed the setup. So i restarted my computer in normal mode but nothing has changed and the graphics are the same quality as before.

A while ago I did a system restore back to before Azureus was installed and the graphics stayed the same. Then i undid the system restore and my graphics got a little worse =/
It seems to be that when ever i try and fix the prob it gets worse lol Tho it is looking alright now. The graphics stay the same when im in safe mode, too.

This is the error in the advanced system info:
    Monday, 13 March 2006
    Applicatio n Error
Faulting application set52.tmp, version 7.1.100.1248, faulting module , version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

Thanks for all ur help so far i really appreciate it! ^_^

Just to verify: you are running the Setup.exe that is packed in that download?

Those .dll's should be on your machine. Go to start > search and see if you can find them.

    SiSInst.dll

    InstFunc.dll

Also as a last resort there is a Recovery Program:

    eRecovery Management Guide

    http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/for...ords=&areaid=7

Still searching the errors but no easy luck

Yup i went to search and found those two files.

*nods* Yup i used the setup.exe file for the driver. There were heaps of setups there, too. That's y i was confused at first =)

I would try uninstalling the current driver under the Device Manager (Safe Mode) and try to install again.

    Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc | Display Adapters
