    Boot And shut Down Problem.

    Can anyone help?

I need to know if the following problem is component or software based.

Whenever I start my computer the bios doesn't boot immediately it cycles round and round(the monitor doesn't even power up). Eventually it power up the monitor, but i have go into bios settings to reset the cpu clock. Then it boots to windows, and all is fine.

Also the computer doesn't always shutdown it reboots.

My thoughts are that this is a bios/motherboard problem. i want to know if there is a solution other than buying a new motherboard.

could it be as simple as a new battery for the motherboard.

Any input on the problem would be much appreciated.

    thanks

If this is an old board a new battery would be a good idea.

If the problem persists you should get the ID of your board and flash the BIOS.

This scan should ID the board:
