Compute crashing and screen rolling up from bottom

Computer crashing first: 2000 Gateway pc running Windows XP
I have ordered a new Dell, but need to keep this one going a bit longer!

    error signature:
    BCCode:1000008e BCP1:C0000005 BCP2:805FQAFA BCP3:F22F4BBC BCP4:00000000 OSVer:5_1_2600 SP:2_0 Product:768_1

    Technical Information about error:
    C:\DOCUME~1\Maggie\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERdb3e.dir00\Min i031106.01dmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\Maggie\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERdbe.dir00\sysd ata.xml

    second prob:
the screen on my monitor has started rolling up from the bottom of the monitor, but only intermittently. Moved my task bar to side so at least I can see what is open and have gone from full screen to smaller option so I can shrink my documents and move up then scroll down to view.

    HELP!!!!!

    Bug Check 0x8E: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
The KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED bug check has a value of 0x0000008E. This indicates that a kernel-mode program generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.

1 The exception code that was not handled - 0xC0000005: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION

View & copy/paste back your Error Log via:

    [1] Start Menu
    [2] Help and Support
    [3] Pick a Task
    [4] Tools
    [5] Advanced System Information
    [6] View the Error Log

Look for a synchronous entry with the Blue Screen.

If you want to check the dump log it is a bit more involved but here are the steps:

If you want to try and analyze the XP errors:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.
    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

The monitor is most likely a monitor or graphics card problem.

Is it an old monitor? Do you have another monitor to try?

Thnks. I will try your suggestions. The monitor is 6 years old also. My son has an extra one and can bring it down for me to try next weekend.
