When starting up goes to log in screen but there are no longer user names to choose from. There should be three sunday ok monday problems. Starts up xp goes to blue log in screen with windows xp logo but users no longer there so cannot go any further.

Does a log on box appear if you press ctrl+alt+delete?

No Ctrl Alt Delete does nothing

I have also tried restarting in safe mode and again it gets to the log in screen and again no user names appear.

Can you access System Restore by starting in Safe Mode? Do you get any options in Safe Mode?

What happens if you just press Enter?

Nothing happens.

Ctl Alt Del does nothing, enter does nothing, safe mode user names do not appear and again ctl alt del, enter does nothing.

Cannot get into anything in safe mode or normal mode as it goes to log in screen and you can go no further.

Thanks for everyone who posted. Had to have computer looked at by professional. 1/2 hard drive full of virus from music and video downloads. Even Norton security had not stopped them!. Being fixed as we speak.
