Remove Hard Drive Partition Presario 1800T

    Hi,
Compaq Presario 1800T about 6 yrs old. Came with W98 and I put XP Pro on it. PII 398Mhz 320MB Ram (@ its Limit now)
Not enough room to run XP Pro on C: (4.5G) and need the D: off to allow the other 1.5Gg to be part of C: IYKWIM?

I just reloaded XP, but do not know how to remove Partition. No use loading any programs, as XP used up the whole D: drive to redo user (me) all over again.
I will be only one using, so should I leave the "Welcome" setup with Zero users when I install again?

    Any hep from my friends?

    TIA, 1

I would suggest a clean install. Choose a single partition. The # of users is not relevant during installation.

    10. Choose the location to install.

10b If the hard drive or partition has a previous installation of XP you want to remove, choose to delete the partition by pressing "D". You will then be prompted to create a new partition in the empty space. This will remove all data from the deleted space.
    Here is a good guide:

Still after all is said and done you should get a larger hard drive. 6GB with XP Pro SP2 will not have room for much more. Plus XP will look to the hard drive for more memory etc.
