Where are you seeing this? In Disk Management?

If not in Disk Management what does Disk Management show:

    Start/Run/ diskmgmt.msc

Did you by any chance partition the drive during the reinstall?

Hi. Thanks for the reply.I think i may of partitioned my drive as it says there is 9.34gb on vaio (c and there is also 9.29gb of free space in a green box on the disk management screen. Is there a way of deleting the partition to make it 20gb again? Thanks again, Andy

In Disk Management right click the blank area and choose Delete (partition).

Have done that but drive c stays the same size and the green box turns into unallocated space. Do you think if i reinstall now it will show that drive c is 20gb?

    Sorry about my initial confusion

If you want just a single partition you will either need to reinstall (creating only one partition)

Or use a third party Partition tool. These are not free

Partition Magic is the most widely known:

There is the free utility if you are up to learning how to use it:

if you still have the disk i would recommend to reinstall it. It would be more secure and better confidence that you did the right thing. Do you know how to install the OS?

I have the original disks supplied with the laptop but they install the os virtually automatically and i dont get asked to partition, format, etc. Would the disks create a partition now i have deleted the partition. I think the laptop came partitioned when new and have never deleted it before.
