I’ve recently rebuilt my machine with xp pro, office xp pro and all updates for hardware, software, etc..

In the course of the day it's not unusual for me to have many pages open on my monitors. The problem is only the first letter of the sight is displayed on the title bar and also on the task bar which becomes incredibly confusing. Example this sight has only a D on the left side of title bar

I tried IE7 which fixed this but caused many new problems as it's a bata so I’ve migrated back to 6 and the problem returned.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.... tks in advance...

I have the exact same problem in Win 2000 Professional, SP4........

Any insights/fixes out there? I've been looking but nothing yet. (I've been using W2K as my "base" though in my searches.)

The only issue that my quick search brings up is this problem being caused by Norton Internet Security.

Do either of you use that?

Wow – you guys are great. I’ve deleted anything having 2 do with Symantec (Norton) which didn’t help and dedicated a good deal of my life looking through the knowledge base with no help except maybe going blind. Not to mention 2 million posts in the news groups. Then link. Jephree posted looks Very promising! As I’ve had a couple of drinks while watching the Olympics I’ll try the Microsoft stuff tomorrow and let ya’s know… thanks again.

Bingo. Thanks jephree. Jumped to the Google link, picked the top one in the list, saw Google mentioned, and things pieced together in my mind. After installing the Google Toolbar is when it started. I've uninstalled it and things are back to normal.
