Hey PPL, HEre is the thing. I have a pc with onboard sound, and it WAS working, but then it stoped. So i figured the onboard sound went out so i put in a new PCI sound card, but i still have no sound. N-E-Ideas?

Did you install the drivers?

Did you disable the on-board chip?

What is the make and model of the card?

What is the make and model of the computer?

I installed the drivers, still not working

i dont know how to disable the on-board chip or even what that is.

the sound card is aPPA Int'l 4 channel PCI 3d interface card

and i dont know what type of computer it is, i just bought all the parts at FRY's Electronics, and had someone put it together for me.

Look in the Device Manager under Sound...

Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc

Your on-board sound chip may have to be disabled in the BIOS. Do you know how to enter the BIOS Setup? When you first start the computer do you see anything that says Enter BIOS: e.g. Del?

The Delete key is often used.

Run this scan and post back all the info under Main Circuit Board as well as Multimedia

ok, i Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc and restart del, but couldnt find Main Circuit Board or Multimedia but i looked on my main board and it says ECS EliteGroup K7VTA3 Ver. 8.0 and my sound card says CMI8738/C3DX PCI

and i cant download that scan because my comp cant get online, and my roommate wont allow it on his for even a sec.

It should say how to access the BIOS Setup as well as Audio options.

Were there any error notes in the Device Manager or yellow "!"

You might try removing the PCI card and see if you can restore the audio using these drivers.
