    MSN hangs computer

Looking for some clues on my current problem.
IBM celeron 800, 500M RAM running XP SP2 always hangs when browsing certain websites. eg MSN and Microsoft.com, both hang the system within seconds or minutes. Can browse some sites without problem (or very much reduced) eg Google, CNET. Have the same problem with IE6 or Firefox. Have reinstalled XP from scratch and tried new video card. Tried Adaware, Spybot etc. Tried LAN and wireless internet. Running out of ideas.

    Thanks for any help

Having problems with any sites outside of Microsoft's domain?

You had the exact same problem before and after a full clean install of XP?

What is your connection to the internet?

What Anti Virus and Firewall are you using?

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

Also view your Error Log via:
    [1] Start Menu
    [2] Help and Support
    [3] Pick a Task
    [4] Tools
    [5] Advanced System Information
    [6] View the Error Log

You might also try to see if the HijackThis Pros see anything in a log:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
    (Not in this section please).
