    Outlook Exprees and blocked attachments

I have installed Outlook express on new Dell 3100 (XP Sp2).

When Outlook Express downloads e-mails with attachments the attachments are not seen.
I know, very common. But I expected a message at the top of the e-mail saying that file such and such was blocked.

There is no message to say what the file name of file type is.

Is there a setting within XP which stops the message even being seen.

    Regards,

    Rannoch

In OE > Tools > Options > Security > Do not allow attachments ...

Also perhaps check your Anti Virus settings for e-mail.

The Dell had McAfee Centre installed, but I uninstalled that. I am using the free edition of AVG. Can't see anything in that to specify exclusion of specific file types.

Unticked the OE > Tools > Options > Security > Do not allow attachments ...
A point about this one. If there is an anti-virus program running (like AVG) is this necessary at all?

NO it is not neccessary as AVG scans e-mail.

See if that resolves it as that is the only setting in OE.

All other issues that I see relate to servers: your ISP.
