Re: Help, My laptop has died ! software/hardware failure

I managed to get the power button and battery charge light to flash, but can't get it to do it again now.

It was when I plugged it in then held down the power switch.

    WOOHOOO, we have power ON

a nice chap off ebay suggested cleaning all the ribbon connecters with alcohol.

after doing this i disconnected everthing apart from the power and hard drive and screen as he said its all I need.

Then I tried the hold power button in for 10 secs the remove battery etc etc as above. and woosh power on, feels great.

However the power is flickering and the batterery is not charging properly I have managed to get the recovery disk in and hit any key before power was lost again.

The system is now fully restoring and the system seems to all be functioning great.

The ebay user is Kitch, and a big thankyou to you.

thanks and this thread can close

now I have power switching problems, its flicking from battery to mains.....

it will run on just battery
it will not run on just mains
it flickers between the two if both connected

could it be the power supply ?, will it harm it if i try another one that is not the right voltage
its ment to have 16v, but the only other supply I have got is 19.5v

Glad you at least got something going

I would NOT mix voltages on a motherboard.

I will post back if I think of anything else

I thought the motherboard ran on +/- 5v on laptops, but will not risk it as it might not step the 19.5v down enough
