HI ALL,
I AM HAVING AN ACTIVATION PROBLEM. HERE ARE THE DETAILS;
1) EVERY ATTEMPT TO UPDATE WINDOWS IS UNSUCCESSFUL DUE TO MY CD KEY NOT BEING VALID
2) I NOW HAVE THE CORRECT CD KEY AND WHEN I HAVE STARTED UP THE ACTIVATION WINDOW (VIA START/RUN) IT SAYS THAT IT IS ALREADY ACTIVATED.
HOW CAN I GO ABOUT ENTERING THE CORRECT CD KEY INTO MY COMPUTER SO THAT I AM ABLE TO UPDATE WINDOWS?
I THANKYOU FOR ANY HELP THAT YOU MAY HAVE GIVEN TO HELP ME.
CHEERS!

When I went to open up the activation window to activate Windows (via start/run)it states that it is already activated. If thats the case then why am i failing the windows validation process when i try to update?
Thanks for any and all help from anyone and everyone!

are you saying your copy of XP was activated but it was an invalid key?
is you copy of XP genuine?
how was the incorrect key number entered and XP activated?
please turn caps lock off (it's classed as shouting) and use the default font it's easier to read
Did you just install or re-install XP?
The only time that you enter your key is during installation or re-installation of XP.
Another point to try activation is:
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Activate Windows.

I assume that you are not being prompted to activate?
I am uncertain why you mentiuon 2 valid keys. There should only be one for one machine. Is there some way that both theses keys got onto this one computer? This might be a point of conflict.
In the end you may need to re-install XP or call up Microsoft.
I also see the post:
When validation fails, you may need to disable firewall and anti-virus and
reset web settings to defaults in IE. I am not positive those steps help or
not, they were just things I also did. With IE open, go to tools/manage
add-ons and disable the WGA plug-in. Refresh or restart IE and go to the
updates site. You will get a message balloon on the disabled plug-in, ignore
it. Get your updates and then relaunch IE and re-enable the plug-in. Go to
the updates site and check for updates, you will be prompted for validation
and it will pass.
