In order to try to get an error message change this setting:

rt. click My Computer then click Properties then Advanced then Startup and Recovery Settings then unclick Automatically restart

The Memory could not be read is a fairly generic error. Did this just start happening? Does it happen all the time? Any new hardware and or software? Anything in common when it happens? Such as playing games etc.?

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with a crash. Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

I would suggest removing Zone Alarm just to see if this is the issue. Do you have SP2 installed?

[B] Im not sure wat SP2 is, but i tryed shutting zone alrm and it still kept rebooting so i will get rid of zone alarm but wouldnt that mean my computer wouldnt that mean my computer would be at risk from viruses?

SP2 is the latest service pack for XP. It contains many security updates plus adds the XP firewall to XP Home edition.

I just mention the uninstalling of Zone Alarm as a test. Especially if you bought it you should be able to use it. Let's just see if it is causing this conflict.

You can view your version of XP by right clicking the My Computer icon then click on Properties.

You can get all Windows Updates via start All Programs | Windows Updates

Also are you running an anti-virus program?

Go to start/run & type in: msconfig

Go to the startup tab and uncheck any and all ZoneAlarm entries.

Also check Services via: start/run services.msc

Disable any and all ZoneAlarm (ZA) entries. You can disable by right clicking the entry and choosing properties.

    ZA ... ZoneAlarm ... ZoneLabs ... vsmon.exe ... vsdatant.sys

Instructions for clearing ZA's current configuration:
    - Step 1. Open the ZoneAlarm program, go to Configure panel, and make sure
the "Load At Startup" box is UNCHECKED.
    - Step 2. Right-click on your taskbar, select "Toolbars," and make sure that
the ZoneAlarm deskband is UNCHECKED as well (if it is checked, click on it
    to uncheck it).
    - Step 3. Reboot. You should now have no ZoneAlarm processes running on your
    system.
    - Step 4. Open the Internet Logs directory (on Windows 95, 98, and ME this
will be "C:\Windows\Internet Logs", on Windows NT and 2000 it will be
C:\WINNT\Internet Logs), where you will find a file called "iamdb.rdb" and a
file named after your computer with the ".ldb" extension. Delete both of
    these files.
    - Step 5. Make sure you have emptied your Recycle Bin, then reboot your
    system.
    - Step 6. You will need to start ZoneAlarm manually. (Click "Start,"
"Programs," "Zone Labs," "ZoneAlarm"). ZoneAlarm will start up again with a
fresh database. Each program should ask for access again if the files were
    properly deleted.
    - Step 7. Be sure to RECHECK anything you unchecked earlier.
