Normally on word whenever i select part of my text and press backspace it deletes it, but for some reason recently it isn’t deleted the text/numbers/string. however delete does work ( if i select then press delete it does delete) but it doesn’t replace which is the most annoying thing, for example if iv typed a sentence wrong, and select the whole thing then press eg "B" the "B" just appears at the front of the sentence instead of replacing it!

by the way its only in word that this happens, eg in explorer this doesnt occur!

anyone know how to stop it doing this?

p.s. im running xp sp2 and word 2003.

I hAVE WORKED OUT PROBLEM MYSELF SO YOU CAN LOCK THIS TOPIC

i did it by. . . .

going into "tools -> "options" -> "edit" tab and then selecting "typing replaces selection"
