Do you have the Operating System disk or Compaq recovery disk?

Can you access the BIOS Setup? Press Esc. Also there is a diagnostic program accessible by pressing F10.

Here are some links to your model:

F12=Network Service Boot. Only works when connected to a network.

If F10 won't get the BIOS try to reset it via:

First thing to try: force a BIOS-reset.

    - plug out AC,
    - take out the battery,
    - press down Fn and hold it pressed,
    - plug in AC,
    - continuously tap on F11

this should lead to cycling LEDs on and off.

If so, let the sysetem boot. You should then receive the POST-msg "options not set".

When you say you have the Operating System disk: what disk is it?

Did you upgrade the original Compaq OS?

    Can you boot that disk?
