    Question No Executables running

    Hi.

Well this happened to me quite some time ago, i formated my computer as a result of this and other errors located on my hard disk.

    It's ok now, because if it was'nt i wouldn't be on IE6.

Firstly, this happend after a Blue Screen error (which i've been getting thanks to cyclic redundancy check errors)
I did not right the details down thinking it was another one of those damn errors.

Anyways, i found that no processes would run at all.
When i clicked on IE6, it would not open.
I checked the task mng and the process was running.

I also noticed that dwwin.exe (doctor watson) was also running. If im not misstaken, thats only used for error reporting and the process is terminated after a error report is complete. Well, it would not go, and every time i ended its process it would create dumprep.exe > then > dw.exe > then >dwwin.exe
Me thinking it was i virus, i decide it was that time of the month to format my computer clean and dandy . I saved everything on another drive and formatted.

    Well thats my story.

I know everyone will ask me to run Hijack, but it doesn't happen anymore, so i cannot.

    Has anyone experienced this?

    Thanks.

Here is some info on Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC)

    http://www2.rad.com/networks/1994/err_con/crc.htm

Dr. Watson is indeed an error compiler. Once triggered by a Memory Dump it will create start up checks.
It has also been known to be corrupted by some viruses.
Its' appropriate use is also strongly dependant on the latest Critical Updates from Microsoft.

If you wish to explore your old logs you can follow this:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp files.
