ok ill try that but it will have to be tomarro but while im here does it just boot up like do i need to do anyhting? like options and if so what should i choose?

ok also do i need to set anyhting upin BIOS? cause when it comes to BIOS its very......hazy(as in i pretty much have new clue what im doing)

As long as the CD drive is set to boot before the Hard drive you are OK.
This setting would be listed under Boot Menu.

i was installing the maxblast disk but it made that clicking noise again and it pretty much froze so about 3 min. later its restarted by its self it was starting to set up again to i turned off the computer then i tryed loading the windows disk but when i restarted the computer that time usely it shows a pintium 4 screen and it did but it went a BIOS screen and said something about a hdd errorso i turned the computer off. did the maxblast failor something?

Again it sounds like either a bad hard drive or a bad connection with the motherboard.
Can you verify that the BIOS detects the Maxtor?
The next step I would recommend is to try PowerMax which is Maxtor's diagnostic tool.
This will tell you if the hard drive is bad or not.

i tryed doing the power max thing but when i clicked on the link to download it it just went to a different page... the download didnt start
