    XP Media Center Edition

I have a friend ( mid-70s) going to buy a Dell 3100 desktop. the version has XP Media Center Edition operating system.

He will use the PC for the usual stuff - word, e-mail, internet, and he's now into digital photography.

Is XP Media likely to be a hinderence or help.

    Regards,

    Rannoch

My friend has XP MCE, he likes it very much, but I think it has never caused him a problem. There is one problem. Its a dell. They have othing but on-board stuff, but they-re cheap, and anything with MCE on it caould be very expensive.

MCE is the best XP version, and while I am practically being quoted by yeagermiester on the dell opinion, a dell is fine unless you need high-ish performance, for an elderly man, a dell is fine, and with MCE it will suit all his needs.
