Home Network shares files and printer but not broadband

    Hi ,
I have had Home Networking working OK on these two computers for quite a while, but after a bad virus attack on the host PC I had to reinstall Windows Xp. I set up Home Networking again and can share files and the printer OK but not the Broadband.

I have tried with all firewalls off and for a short while with all anti virus off.

I have run the wizard on both PC's quite a few times and have followed the Troubleshooter, all to no avail. I can share the printer and files alright, but not the broadband internet connection. Broadband works OK on the Host PC but cannot be accessed on the Client Laptop through the network. If the broadband modem is connected directly to the laptop it works fine.

If you can give me any assistance, I would be extremely grateful,

    Regards

    Daisy

Have you tried disabling all the firewalls running on both computers? Also try booting to the Safe Mode with Networking on the laptop and see if the connection works?

    Hi
    Thanks for your responses.
Have tried starting up in safe mode and it makes no difference - not sure what else to try.
    Any other ideas?
Not sure if it isn't some sort of configuration problem but don't know where to look.

    Any help appreciated.
    Many thanks

Try this: run regedit and go to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa
    DWORD KEY "restrictanonymous" = 1
and change the value for that key to 0

    Hi
    Thanks for the suggestion.
Managed to get the connection working this afternoon - it was an ICP/TP protocol problem that has now been sorted and the two pc's are now sharing the internet without any problems.
So once again, many thanks to you all for your suggestions.
    Regards
    Daisy
