I am having problems when I boot up my pc - the monitor stays in standby mode (there is power going to it) and the beep that occurs before the monitor usually boot up have stopped - This all started when I had to re-boot my pc a few times after having to uninstall and re-install some sony mp3 software - please help Somebody!

The beep that usually goes on is suppose to let you know that the computer positively passed POST (power on self-test that checks Video Adapter, CPU and RAM). If there is no beep and no output to the monitor then it looks like there is something wrong with the Video card. If the changes occured after installing some software then it most likely isn't a physical issue. The first thing you should try to do is to reset BIOS using the Reset jumper (refer to your motherboard manual to find the jumper) or you can simply unplug your computer from the power and take the CMOS battery out (that big watch-alike battery on the motherboard). Leave it out for a minute or so and then put it back in. Once the battery is back in place you can hook the power cord up and start the computer!
