I am fairly new to this forum. Actually, this is my first minute posting on it. I just finished downloading a movie that is in nero image files. I dont know how to read them. What do I have to do? Burn it to a CD? This must be a very silly Q, but please excuse my lack of knowledge. I'd appreciate every bit of help that can be thrown at me. Thank you.

You are referring to .nrg files? I assume that you do not have Nero software?

Another type of image file created with Nero. As far as I know these are not mountable, except maybe by Nero. These are also apparently only usable by the version of Nero that created them. I don't recommend using these, as I've had nothing but problems with them.

I am not familiar with this freeware but a search claims that it will play .nrg files:

Thanks for the help! The files are not .nrg files but they are like .r01, .r02, .r03 etc... and the last two files of the download were ended with .rar and .sfv. Are they in anyway related?

Compression Files

.rar .zip .ace .r01 .001

These extensions are quite common and mean that your file(s) are compressed into an "archive". This is just a way of making the files more compact and easier to download.

To open any of those archives listed above you can use WinRAR (Make sure you have the latest version) or PowerArchiver.

The above software will uncompress the files but you still need additional software to play & or burn DVD's.

If you just want to view on your computer WMP 10 might be able to handle it.

THank you for your help very much jephree. I appreciate it so much. Half of the file have been read by winrar successfully. The download was segregated into two seperate folders, one containing the first half, the second containing the second half. WInrar read about half the files and I extracted them. The file that came out was just the video. I watched it and only saw the movie. There was no sound. The files r01 through .r29 were read in both folders. Files r.30 through .r47/48 were unread. The .sfv file was still unread. What do I do from here? ONce again, Thank you soo much jephree. I just noticed that youre the moderator. I can see why

Dang Im a newbie. Forget it! I shouldve listened to you and played it with wmp 10. I was using winamp and I guess it didnt read certain files or something. Thanks a bunch! Problem solved=)
