    Unhappy Outlook Express 6 Problem??!

Ok, the problem I am having consists of the following.. When I go to open up Outlook Express 6, a box pops up after the loading screen stating, MOE6 Has encountered a problem and needs to shut down...

This started about two days ago, and I'm figuring that it started after I ran a virus scan. I have tried doing a system restore with no success, and I have all the windows updates. I'm operating on Windows XP... Any help would be REALLY appreciated, I sell items on ebay and am in charge of running an indoor motocross series, so i need to get my email back up a.s.a.p...

Iv had a similar problem with outlook express. It says my address book is invalid so I can't send/forward/reply to emails. I installed Incredimail which is now working but outlook express don't want to know. The only other way you can get round the problem is to go through webmail.

I have been told to re-install outlook express but cant find where to download it from anywhere. I have tried doing a windows update to see if it will find an update but no luck.

Outlook Express along with Internet Explorer are integrated into Windows XP. There is no stand alone download. If you have SP1 you can run sfc /scannow. If you have SP2 you need to reinstall SP2.

I reinstalled it with no luck either. I also have turned off my firewall to see if that was a problem. I called my internet company, they turned me over to microsoft, and then microsoft to Dell.. Finally I ended up with no help!!

Do you remember any details from the virus scan? What it found? What it removed? How did you reinstall OE? Do you have any other problems with this machine?

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with an OE crash.

Ok, I believe the first error after the crash was this...
    Source: Application Error
    Event ID:1000

and it says... Faulting Applicaton msimn.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180 faulting code wab32.dll, version 6.0.2900.2180

Theres tons of the same after that.

I dont recall what virus's it found or removed. I'll get back to you on how i installed/reinstalled it....

Thanks for trying to help me...

    msimn.exe is Outlook Express.

wab32.dll is the Address Book aspect. Your error is faulting that particular .dll

You might try reloading it from here:

Still curious that you have an issue after a repair of OE.

Also I've been getting a Infected file detected often that seems to go along with the failure of OE.... It reports a "W32/Downloader.KJD"

    Infection File...'C:\WINDOWS\System32\msr2cenu.exe'

I've done the Windows File Protection Verification.

Now that I have the wab32.dll, what do i do with it? I have it saved on my desktop.

and as far as Reinstalling XP, do you think I should, and would i have to save all my files and such?
