I would uninstall & reinstall the Messenger with some manual steps.
After removing via Add/Remove programs do a Search from the start menu for msn & delete all messenger finds. Then run this Registry Cleaner & delete all Green lighted MSN entries (& all green lighted entries for that matter):

Then reboot before trying to reinstall the latest version.

All right. Now, when you say "green lighted", do you mean anything that comes up when you go through "Clean the Registry"?Originally Posted by jephree
You will notice some entries are in red & some in green. Green are known to be safe to go while the red are assumed not needed but yet unknown to the program in their details.
If you click Select All you get the Green & or Red choice.
I always delete all & have never had problems. You will notice that a backup is created in case of any problems.
Done. ^^
Are you going to reboot & reinstall MSN Messenger?
Yeah, but I'll probably have it done by tomorrow.
Small problem - I did "Select All" and deleted 'em like you said, right? My computer won't start up right.Originally Posted by MasterRDna
What exactly happens?
Are you familiar with Safe Mode options?
Repeatedly tap F8 after the BIOS & before XP.
Try: Start Last Known Good Configuration. & or start in Safe Mode & go to RegSeeker & reinstall the backup file.
