need help with this hard drive problem

heres the story. i built a new pc and theres some kind of a problem with my hard drive. its an sata drive. when i try to boot the computer with a windows xp cd, after i press enter to "Install Windows XP On This Computer" I get this message:

Setup did not find any disk drives installed on your computer.

Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program.

Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3
The drive is hooked up to the mobo with an SATA cable and is powered on so im guessing its hooked up correctly unless theres something else to it... Besides that It's an OEM drive, there is no diskette for it or anything and I have no idea what to do. If i boot the computer without an XP cd it prompts me to set up RAID or something along those lines. If anyone's willing to help me please reply asap or IM me on AIM - UndercoverAndrey.

    Thanks

What version of XP? SATA drives should load XP SP2 with no problem. If your SATA is connected to a SATA/RAID connector or you do not have SP2 you need to install the SATA/RAID drivers from the motherboard when prompted by the XP CD to press F6 to install additional drivers.

The drivers should be available on the motherboard's web site.

So, I finally got the hard drive thing all figured out. Now I have a nother problem. When I start up windows, my keyboard powers on and everything, however, when it prompts me to enter my password, the keyboard no longer works. Before I set up a password the keyboard wouldn't work either, I couldnt type anything in the adress bar, nothing. The keyboard is a PS2 keyboard... A USB one works perfectly find but for some reason the PS2 one doesn't.

    now for the questions:

    1. on the taskbar by the clock there is an icon with a green arrow that says SAFELY REMOVE HARDWARE when i put the cursor over it. I'm using an SATA drive and am wondering if thats suppose to be there, because usually thats only there when I plug in a digital camera or an outside device such as a scanner.

    2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...A%20nForce4%20 SLI%20ATX%20AMD%20Motherboard%20-%20Retail <<< thats my mobo and as you can see there are two onboard 10/100 lan connectors. well, this is what I have in my network connections folder: http://www.spark-studios.net/other/untitled.GIF ... problem is, why does my computer only connect to the internet when I connect the cable to the lower lan plug?... I font i weird. Also why cant i delete one of the connections that im not using.

    Thanks.

    1. The Safely Remove Hardware icon is by default on the Taskbar.

In order to hide it: Right-click the notification area > Select Properties > Under Taskbar > click Customize > Highlight "Safely Remove Hardware" icon > choose Always hide (from the drop down menu) in the Behavior column next to it > then OK.

    2. My first try would be to reload the NVIDEA chipset drivers:

NVIDIA chipset drivers disk for Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003 32bit and Windows XP/2003 64bit.

Just enter: Motherboard: Socket 939: A8N-SLI Premium
