Before you go there you might try your File settings via start/ control panel/ folder options
Under View Restore Defaults

If you are having problems with particular file types open the File Types tab & set or reset thru the Advanced button.

I found the answer to my own question finally, thanks to the people that try to help, if it helps anybody with the same problem (choose Tools|Internet Options. When the dialog box opens, click the Programs Tab and then click Reset Web Settings. Click OK to close the dialog box and start with fresh default settings).
