Did you see any yellow ? or ! in the Device Manager? Or any listing under Other Devices?

I would assume also that nothing shows in dxdiag?

    Start/Run/ dxdiag | Sound | Device

What is the make & model of the computer? If a custom build what is the make & model of the motherboard?

If you do not know run this scan: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

    What is listed under:

    System Model

    as well as

    Main Circuit Board

I can trace your mother board: ms 6367 but MSI only lists a BIOS & the Manual for download.

    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppor...UID=290&kind=1

I looked at the manuals' audio info:

nVIDIA® nFORCE MCP-D (Media Communications Processor)
    - Dual ATA/100 controller
    - USB OHCI 1.0a up to 6 ports
    - IEEE 802.3 compatible MAC (MII)
    - Integrated Audio Processor Unit
    - AC .97 2.1 Compliant Interface
    - Dolby Digital S/PDIF output function
    Audio
    Chip integrated (6 channels audio)
APU integrated in MCP-D (Audio Processing Unit)
    - Supports up to 256 hardware-processed voices or 64 hardware voices
    in 3D
    - Supports multi-speaker 3D audio (2/4 channel)
    - S/PDIF interface (MCP-D)
    Note:
If you don.t want to connect to the front audio
    header, pins 5 & 6, 9 & 10 have to be jumpered
in order to have signal output directed to the
rear audio ports. Otherwise, the Line-Out connector
on the back panel will not function.
AC 97 2.1 drivers are numerous but I can't find one specifically for that board.

I would take one more try at identifying your computer:

You say Belarc showed: KINGFISHERI.T.WORKS nFORCE-MCP for system model?

The nFORCE-MCP is your onboard chip handling audio & video (onboard).

I can find no info on a KINGFISHERI.T.WORKS or Kingfisher I.T. Works.

Do you know if that is the make of your computer?
