    system wont load cd/dvd drives

    Hi
Well first post here hopefully I give needed info! Running XP Pro & recently both my dvd burner & dvd rom have disappeared. They show up on bios as well as in under systems hardware device manager properties reads Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) I have tried new cables, uninstalled & when Xp loads it finds new hardware but still same message. If i change boot order to cd before hdd it will load so they are working just not on current os. Any Ideas with out reloading os thanks

39 Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.

The driver may be corrupted or missing.

(Code 39) Reasons for this error include a driver that is not present; a binary file that is corrupt; a file I/O problem, or a driver that references an entry point in another binary file that could not be loaded.

Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard.
Otherwise I would check the Device Manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers | Secondary IDE channel.

Try reinstalling one at a time. Reboot with no install between. e.g. uninstall from Device Manager | Physically uninstall | reboot | shutdown | physically reinstall | reboot ...
