    stop:c0000269 {illegal system dll relocation}
the system dll kernel32.dll was relocated in memory. the application will not run properly.
The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\windows\system32\ gdi32.dll occupied an address range reserved for Windosws system dlls. The vendor supplying the dll shou %s %s

First off try a System Restore. Reboot into Safe Mode. Repeatedly tap tap the F8 key after the computer logo screen & before XP.

From the option screen choose Safe Mode then System Restore. Go back to a point prior to the update.

We tried the system restore but it asked for an administrative password eventhough we didnt set up a password. The we tried the safe mode but it kept reboots after we select the safe mode option and returns to the blue screen again. What can i do now? Thanks alot for helping.

When asked for a password just press enter.

    See if that goes.

See if you can start the option Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

    If so type in:

    %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

OK ... one last shot in this vein: back when you tried System Restore & password: enter

You say it says: C:\Windows ... Can you expand this line?

The idea being to get to C:\Windows\System32\Restore\Rstrui.exe

If this doesn't work the next step requires your XP CD.

We need to know what type of XP CD it is that you have?

Is it a Microsoft retail version or was XP pre-installed on your computer?

If the latter what is the exact make & model including # of the computer e.g. Dell Dimension 5400 etc.

If you cannot boot into Windows I would suggest first trying the Recovery Console:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;307654

To try to fix the boot:

Assuming that your XP is on C: then:

    Type:

    FIXMBR C:

then enter. After that completes type:

    FIXBOOT C:

then enter. After that completes type:

    BOOTCFG /rebuild

then enter. After that completes type:

    EXIT

    then reboot.

If in the process you are asked to run chkdsk say YES.

Also after the BOOTCFG /rebuild you will be prompted to:

    C:\Windows
    1. Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All):
    2. Enter Load Identifier: (Custom description for an operating system loading from the Boot menu)
    3. Enter Operating System Load Options: (that is: /fastdetect)

    Reply:
    1. Yes
    2. XP
    3. /fastdetect

If this fails you can run a Repair Install that will leave your data entact:
