    I'm having problems loading java as well. I've downloaded it successfully in the past. Recently had my hard drive wiped clean and can't do it now. I am behind a firewall and am using Panda Titanium 2005.

    I keep getting an error message:
    The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in the safe mode or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

    I've also gone to the microsoft site and tried to download Windows Installer but it won't let me do that either.

    I hope someone here can help. This site came highly recommended to me. Thanks in advance.

    Have you installed SP2 & all subsequent Critical Updates from Windows Updates? This includes the latest Windows Installer.

    If you have the above download Java then go offline to install. Turn off AV & Firewall during install.

    Another possibility is to clean your Installer:

    Remove any WMI or Java entries.

    Another common Java install problem is registry corruption from previous installs.

    In which case removing the Green (safe) entries with this free basic cleaner may help:
