I tried to install and run a program and the computer ran up a warning telling me a General Protection Fault had occurred. What's that and what's it for? It happened every time I tried to run the program, even tho the prpgram says it is rated for NT. I thought XP could handle those DOS based programs. What gives?

Only one particular program? What is the program? Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling?

What is the complete error message? Does it stop the program from starting?

Have you tried the program with the Program Compatibility Wizard via: All Programs | Accessories
