Hey I'm running a HP pavillon a402n and I noticed the clock would never have the right time everytime I'd shut down thats the time it have when i'd start up. A friend told me to change the battery thats on the motherboard. I did today with one that I had in another appliance (I figured that it should work since the battery is farly new) yet it didn't. Should I go buy another battery or could it be caused by another reason.

is the battery the same as the one you took out?

I put the same type that is. I tryed again with a new battery and the same thing happened and the clock still doesn't keep time.

have you tried clearing your CMOS ?

how would i go about doing that? i read on the net taking out the battery would clear cmos... sry i'm noob at this
