Cannot Reboot - get Logon Message flash
I have a Dell Dimension 4500 Win XP Home, Pentium 4, 2.00Ghz, 512Mb Ram.
When trying to reboot from restart or shutdown, this flashes quickly: "Logon Message,
The system could not log you on. Make sure your user name and domain are correct, then type your password again." Then the Windows startup page comes on forever and will not boot up. I do not have any password. I usually click on my username and it boots up. My username is behind this logon message, but I don't have enough time to click on the message to stop there. What is wrong? Gary

Can you boot into Safe Mode? & or Safe Mode w/ Command Prompt?
If so either at start/run or at a command prompt type
control userpasswords2
Uncheck the box that Requires Users to logon with Passwords.

Jephree, I went there and it already is unchecked. I was able to boot up by pressing some keys right before the logon message comes up, which stopped the message so I could click it off and then click my name and boot. But I should not have to do this and do not know how to get rid of this message. Any ideas?

Did this just start to happen? Any new downloads coinciding?

It's been happening for a couple weeks. Just remembered around that time I tried Logmein remote program, but could not get it to work. It is still listed under users (only in the control userpasswords2
area). Could that be causing the problem?

I would certainly suspect it. I would try uninstalling to verify.

Jephree, You were right about the downloads and network settings. I removed Logmein and it boots up just fine now. Thank you for your help!

Glad it worked & thanks for the thanks!
