Angry Automatic immediate Logoff as soon as Login

I have a Dell D600 laptop with Windows XP sp2 and stuck for last two days because of this weird problem.

As soon as I logon with any username/password (admin/user), it displays "loading your personal settings..." and then immediately displays "Logging off" and returns to pre-logon screen.

I ve already tried many solutions to similar problesm found on the internet like blazefind issue, registry fixing and autoruns etc.

Interestingly I can logon in "Safe mode with Networking" and access the internet from the safe mode but no way to logon normally. I ve played with registry a lot but to no avail.

I ve checked the event manager too. The recent errors are:

    1. DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service StiSvc with arguments "" in order to run the server:
    {A1F4E726-8CF1-11D1-BF92-0060081ED811}

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    2. The Computer Browser service terminated with the following error:
This operation returned because the timeout period expired.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    3. The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
    Fips
    intelppm

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp

    Any ideas / solutions...???

Have you tried system restore in safe mode back to before this started happening?

Did you find BlazeFind on the computer? What did you do in the registry?

    http://groups.google.com/group/micro...rch+this+group

You might want to run this by a HijackThis pro before following my suggestion as this does appear to be a malware issue:
Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
    (Not in this section please).

    .................................................. .........

Does this error appear at every boot:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
    Fips
    intelppm

    ?

Was XP pre-installed on this laptop or did you install it?

I ask to determine if you have a Microsoft XP CD or a Dell XP CD?

I would suggest trying to repair the boot sector using the Recovery Console.

I also post links to a full Recovery as a worst case scenerio.

How do I install the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system on my Dell™ Latitude™ D600 notebook?

    http://support.dell.com/support/topi...SRG&l=en&s=dhs

How Do I Log On to the Recovery Console without an Administrator Password in the Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating System?

    http://support.dell.com/support/topi...=en&s=dhs#enus

    ...................................

I would suggest first trying the Recovery Console:

    http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;EN-US;314058

To try to fix the boot:

Assuming that your XP is on C: then:

    Type:

    FIXMBR C:

then enter. After that completes type:

    FIXBOOT C:

then enter. After that completes type:

    BOOTCFG /rebuild

then enter. After that completes type:

    EXIT

    then reboot.

If in the process you are asked to run chkdsk say YES.

Also after the BOOTCFG /rebuild you will be prompted to:

    C:\Windows
    1. Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All):
    2. Enter Load Identifier: (Custom description for an operating system loading from the Boot menu)
    3. Enter Operating System Load Options: (that is: /fastdetect)

    Reply:
    1. Yes
    2. XP
    3. /fastdetect

If this fails you can run a Repair Install that will leave your data entact:

    http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Or if your CD is Dell follow the above instructions from Dell.

No. I did not find BLAZEFIND though. I ran a downloaded Registry fixer tool to fix broken registry links.

Yes, XP is provided by Dell and I dont even have the CD with me as I am away from my office for a Project.

I would try the HiJack This in Safe Mode.
