I purchased a DVD recorder for my computer. I connected it, then turned on the computer. To my dismay, After the "Windows XP" startup screen, the login screen did not appear. Instead, the monitor shutdown, yet the computer remained turned on.

I turned the computer off and took the DVD drive out of the tower. Unfortunately, the computer failed to startup again, even though the DVD drive was not connected. Maybe something was unplugged, but I am not that proficient with hardware installation. Can anyone help me? Thank you!

you need to check all the cables inside the computer to make sure they're all connected properly

That's what I figured. I just don't know what connects to what. Are there any diagrams out there?
