If you are viewing them in the email, right click, save picture as whatever.jpg in the folder you choose.

when i right click i get the option of save as JPEG or bitmap-- i select JPEG but the pictures are not viewable still-they just appear as an icon which wont open.

try opening the e-mail in aol and click show images and enable links (if you havnt already tried this) or, you could try opening it in I.E:
Go to www.aol.com or www.aol.co.uk and type in your screen name and password in the boxes and click sign in, click the e-mail tab and click on the e-mail that the photos are in (if you have a popup blocker enabled, you may need to hold Ctrl and then click the e-mail or disable your popup blocker) click ok or yes when the box comes up asking if you know who sent you the e-mail and then click show images and enable links

    Hope this helps,
    Mike

well--opened saved attatchments in IE and i then at least had the option to print ,whereas when opening directly from the e-mail the option wasnt there. All i need to do is print them off to send to someone so now i can.
    thanks again.
