Spyware removal causes system lockup
I was trying to fix a dll error from bootup ( D0CE0C16B1) and found others had this problem as well. The only thing that has been done was to load the program from ewido which found 69 threads of possible problems. http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/ I did that yesterday and did a reboot and didn't get an error. That was yesterday. got on the puter today and it was locked up with the blank screen saver. Decided to do a hard reboot and that kept recyling back to the intial startup when windows would try to load. Tried to load in safe mode but couldn't do that either. After numerous hard reboots I finally got it to load in safe mode so I tried a system restore to the previous day. Windows tells me that a file in my regisrty can't be restored. I also tried restoring to a day over a month ago long before any of these problems existed but got the same error. It's there but in the wrong format. I'm on right now as a new user as it said that file was for that user. Help me out pls as I'm afraid to turn off my computer til I know something.

If the issue is particular to one user then delete that user. Data can be saved via:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;811151
If the computer will not boot for any user first try Safe Mode option Last Known Good Configuration.
If that doesn't help:
Do you have a retail version of XP or OEM? (pre-installed)
If the former try:
If you cannot boot into Windows I would suggest first trying the Recovery Console:
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;EN-US;314058
To try to fix the boot:
Assuming that your XP is on C: then:
Type:
FIXMBR C:
then enter. After that completes type:
FIXBOOT C:
then enter. After that completes type:
BOOTCFG /rebuild
then enter. After that completes type:
EXIT
then reboot.
If in the process you are asked to run chkdsk say YES.
Also after the BOOTCFG /rebuild you will be prompted to:
C:\Windows
1. Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All):
2. Enter Load Identifier: (Custom description for an operating system loading from the Boot menu)
3. Enter Operating System Load Options: (that is: /fastdetect)
Reply:
1. Yes
2. XP
3. /fastdetect
If this fails you can run a Repair Install that will leave your data entact:

If the latter check your manual for the manufacturer's guide to reinstalling XP.
