Did you shut it down with the power switch?

Then what happened? Did it restart OK?

Do you get the BIOS POST & or computer Logo screen?

What XP disk do you have? Full retail or OEM? (pre-installed).

Can you get the Safe Mode option screen?

If so have you tried the Last Known Good Configuration?

If not see if you can fix the boot by following the following:

If you cannot boot into Windows I would suggest first trying the Recovery Console:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;307654

To try to fix the boot:

Assuming that your XP is on C: then:

    Type:

    FIXMBR C:

then enter. After that completes type:

    FIXBOOT C:

then enter. After that completes type:

    BOOTCFG /rebuild

then enter. After that completes type:

    EXIT

    then reboot.

If in the process you are asked to run chkdsk say YES.

Also after the BOOTCFG /rebuild you will be prompted to:

    C:\Windows
    1. Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All):
    2. Enter Load Identifier: (Custom description for an operating system loading from the Boot menu)
    3. Enter Operating System Load Options: (that is: /fastdetect)

    Reply:
    1. Yes
    2. XP
    3. /fastdetect

If this fails you can run a Repair Install that will leave your data entact:

Yes, I can get the safe mode option screen.According to waht you said, I chose
Last known good configuration..... I still failed to start my computer. There is still
nothing on my screen. I can't see windows picture loading system.....

BTW:last night I used system restore to want to recover my system to last check point
dated November 13, 2005, but power was cut off when system restore was running.
since then, I had never started my machine normally.

A power outage during System Restore could very well have corrupted the registry beyond normal repair.

You can try the Recovery Console as mentioned above but will most likely need to run a Repair Installation:

    http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

This will maintain your data but you will have to re-add SP2 & subsequent updates.

Both the above operations require you to boot the XP CD.

Boot the CD. For the Recovery Console:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;307654

    1. Insert the Windows XP startup disk into the floppy disk drive, or insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.

Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.
    2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
    3. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.
    4. When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
    5. At the command prompt, type the appropriate commands to diagnose and repair your Windows XP installation.

For a list of commands that are available in Recovery Console, type recovery console commands or help at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

For information about a specific command, type help commandname at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.
    6. To exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer, type exit at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

    For a Repair Install:

    http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

    1. Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
    2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below
This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft
Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

    3. Press Enter to start the Windows Setup. do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
    4. Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
    5. Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, read this Warning#2!
Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.
