Win XP Problems
Hi all.
I have been redirected here from the HijackThis forum. I did several scans, but nothing much came up to help me with my problem.
The thread can be found here.
The problem I am having is that certain processes stay in the process list in task manager after the application has been closed. When I try to end the process, I get the normal warning message about ending processes, click OK, but the process doesn't end!
This all started after I installed Google Earth for the first time. I have never been able to run Google Earth, as the process starts, but the application doesn't. I then cannot end the process and need to restart the computer to get rid of it (Shutting down also takes a long time - I presume due to the non-ending processes).
If anyone could help, I would be very very grateful!!
Thanks....

Have you uninstalled Google Earth?
Do you have the Restore Point prior to the install of Google Earth?
If so try the Restore.
Does your computer meet the minimum requirements of Google Earth?
As for a RAM test the Microsoft version is here:
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
A more comprehensive program here:
http://www.memtest86.com/
You also might want to run check disk:
start > run > cmd
in the new window type chkdsk/f
when prompted to run on boot choose Y & reboot
this will check for & fix any disk errors.
