Question Windows Media Player 10 - no sound

My WMP app. has stopped supplying sound. No changes that I'm aware of, sound still works with RealPlayer, The Playa (DIVX) and AudioRack, just no sound when using MediaPlayer.

I'm running XP with Service Pack 2.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

open WMP, and at the bottom, there is a volume control and next to it a speaker button (for mute/unmute) try clicking that, may sound obvious but i made that mistake once, i went without music for a week once before realising it was on mute!!!!

if that doesnt work, try a diferent song or playing a cd on WMP

    Hope this helps, Mike

Mike, that's great. Exactly the problem. I'd uninstalled WMP and re-installed as well, it must've recognised some old settings and stayed muted. Bizarre. I didn't even know there was a mute button.

    Many thanks,
