    Pop ups

    Good morning
I am getting some really nasty pop ups... I mean nasty as I do run AOL's anti spyware thing and they keep coming, I also have my pop up filter as blocked and yes they still come.

I believe they are all from the same company and some type of sites do bring them on, i.e. rightmove will always attract them, a huge pop up will take over my whole screen and it also lays in the task bar.

They mainly advertise... mobile phones/single dating agencies and various other special offers... that are all junk.

Oh and one which is really violent it WINFIX, a window comes up saying winfix can scan my pc etc, whn you click on it a whole host of windows come up and getting shot of them takes ages!

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

Do you have SP2? With the firewall enabled you should not have such issues unless the site you are going to includes these adds.

What is the link to rightmove? I only see this real estate company & it loads nothing on my comp:
    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/home.rsp/...0BF0F5865F473D

You might want to post a HijackThis log in the HijackThis section:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
    (Not in this section please).

    Hi thanks for your reply
Not sure how to set SP2's settings perhaps you could advise? You have the correct link for right move.

It would seem all the pop ups have the same heading which is great offers.

I got lost on your thread where you mention hijack?

    Thanks

SP2's Security Center is listed under the Control Panel. Make sure that the firewall is on.

When I click that link I get the site but no pop-ups. This could possibly indicate some malware on your machine. The HijackThis program would detect that & DAL's security expert could help you remove it. To start the process read this link:

And then post your log in this section:

Hi, thanks for your help so far, This is driving me mad, just has 2 whilst coming onto this site.... one was casino mobiles!

What do you mean by POST YOUR LOG?

I have briefly looked at your instructions... is it as complicated as it first seems?

Do you think this is connected, I am getting about 15 emails a day, only been going on for the past 4 days, all saying MAILER DEAMON-USER UNKNOWN, in the email is an email address (different on each one) that I have never heard of.... here is a copy.

    Thanksl
