    Ethernet contoller problem

I have lost my ethernet controller software on my other computer and therfore my broadband DSL modem does not work.. My computer continually comes up saying...ethernet contoller found. Then it asks me to install it but can never find itand asks for a disk (which I dont have)... How do download/install the software if I dont know what ethernet card I have?

This is really just a guess: try calling your ISp or go to the modem website to see if you can download the driver. You'll probably have to use another PC, right? Well, download the driver to a jump/keydrive or something and then just install it on your PC. Again, just a guess.

Any idea why this happened? New hardware? New software? Any coincidental events?

Check your Device Manager: Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc

Look for your card under Network adapters.

If it is there right click the card & try updating drivers.

If that doesn't work please post the card ID back here.

You can also possibly detect the card with Belarc:

    What is listed under: "Communications"?
