    Exclamation Administrator Power

I recently upgraded from Win98 to WinXP.I guess i should have done it quite earlier.Anyways i am loving the new format. Its pleasing to the eyes.

I became the admin and after going through the help notes, i found out that as an admin, i can protect my files from others from accessing them.I followed the tutorial given to deny access to a zip file i downloaded from the net.

I then logged off and entered again using a limited account type user.Yo my horror, this user was able to access and open the zip file. That means my becomming an admin was of no use if i could not protect my files.

I saw this feature in Win 2000 where the admin can decide what the user can access and what he cannot. Is this possible in WinXP too?

    Thanks and Regards.
    Nisar.

This linked thread shows the basics. As you will see XP Pro is very similar to 2K as they were both business platforms.

The tools in XP Home are more limited & or have different access points.

Oh yeh.I managed it by going in the Folder Options and unchecking the 'Use Simple File Sharing' box.
